The Episcopal Diocese of Lexington

St. Agnes' House is a non-profit, ecumenical mission established in 1975 through collaboration among the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington, the Society of St. Margaret and the University of Kentucky.

We provide low-cost housing for patients from rural Kentucky who are receiving therapies for cancer and other chronic medical conditions at Lexington area medical facilities.

All guests are welcome, regardless of their church background or beliefs. Participation in any faith-related offerings is strictly voluntary.

St. Agnes' House provides:

  • Family Atmosphere—our guests share time and common areas in which they exchange stories and provide much needed emotional and spiritual support.
  • Private Bedrooms—each guest occupies a single room, all of which are decorated in different, attractive designs. When a caregiver accompanies our guest, the two share a room.
  • Transportation—is available with volunteer drivers to and from treatment.
  • Low-cost Housing—the cost is $7.00 per night, but no one is turned away.
  • Food—is purchased and prepared by our guest, often in groups sharing different dishes but always served with lots of conversation.
  • Patio—is the place of flowers, cookouts, singing and quiet thoughts late at night.
  • Prayer—is an important part of the treatment of our guests’ disease, and the source of strength and hope.
  • Location—is four blocks from the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
